ABOUT US

We are a not-for-profit charity committed to promoting women's physical and mental health through connection, creativity, skill-building and community support. We began from humble beginnings as a Facebook community founded by Emma Rudd.

In April 2024 we formally incorporated as a not-for-profit organisation, led by our inaugural Chair, Kahli Rogers and in May 2024, we became endorsed as a charity by the Australian Charities Commission. In August 2024 we opened our memberships with the support of a community grant from the City of Subiaco and â€‹partnered with Act, Belong, Commit in November 2024. In December we ran our first woodworking workshop (as featured in the photos on this page).

We are continually growing and evolving in response to the interests, skills and needs of our members. We are always exploring new workshop ideas and opportunities from practical skill-building to creative and wellbeing-focused activities. We actively welcome expressions of interest from people who would like to facilitate or co-run workshops with us. Whether you’re a skilled tradesperson, creative practitioner, hobbyist, or simply passionate about sharing knowledge in a supportive environment, we’re keen to hear from you as we expand our program and strengthen our community. A number of our events are open to all women, fostering connection even outside structured workshops.

The Subiaco Women’s Shed is run by a dedicated volunteer committee made up of women who bring a diverse range of skills and experience and are passionate about supporting their community. The committee includes Brigitte (Chair), George (Vice Chair), Chern (Secretary) and Su-Lin (Treasurer) alongside general committee members Noelene, Helen, Lisa and Connie. Together, the committee looks after the governance and direction of the Shed, with everyone generously giving their time and skills on a completely voluntary basis.
